High-speed rail can be used by families on Turkey villa holidays
Turkey may become an increasingly popular destination for European travellers thanks to its efficient high-speed rail network.
While the Mediterranean country has long been a popular destination for holidaymakers travelling on flights from the UK to Turkey villa holidays, new figures have suggested that more people are heading to Turkey using trains.
According to a Turkish State Railways statement released yesterday (March 2nd), more than one million people have used the nation's high-speed rail network since services began between Ankara and Eskisehir on March 13th last year.
"High-speed trains carry nearly 4,000 passengers on weekdays and 5,000 on weekends," the organisation said.
Before high-speed rail was introduced, travel time between the two cities stood at three hours. It has now been cut to just 1.5 hours, allowing travellers in the Turkish capital to venture to the Phrygian Valley region.
According to Turkish Travel News, the valley is a key historical settlement in Anatolia and a popular place for tourists to visit.
