ABTA: Tourists seeking culture on honeymoons in holiday villas in Turkey and other countries
Newlyweds wanting to make their honeymoon extra special are seeking out holiday villas near cultural hotspots, it has been claimed.
According to a report by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), newly married couples are looking for places that are very different to where they would normally holiday for that one-off, not-to-be-repeated experience.
Some couples are even choosing to get married in their honeymoon destinations too.
Couples are looking for beautiful, isolated locations and holiday villas, with easy access to local and cultural history and unusual activities, says ABTA - The Travel Association's report.
Most popular are the places where they can spend quality, uninterrupted time together as newlyweds and those destinations with something different on offer to a regular package holiday.
The most popular wedding and honeymoon destinations, including Turkey, Greece and Italy as well as the Maldives and Thailand, certainly offer that.
rances Tuke, spokesperson for ABTA said: "These are unique environments to go to and they all have very special cultural heritages."
