Pre-paid cards 'are top holiday money option'
Pre-paid cards are one of the most convenient ways to buy goods while on overseas villa holidays, according to the latest advice.
They can be loaded with funds before departure and then topped up anywhere in the world, said Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services.
"Best of all it is very secure as it is not linked to your bank account and can be quickly replaced if lost or stolen," she remarked.
Ms Munro believes the ideal option for travellers is to take a mix of cash and plastic, so that all eventualities are covered, as cash will be needed for taking taxi journeys and paying for drinks.
A recent survey from financial services giant Santander revealed that over half (52 per cent) of all Britons travelling abroad take cash as their primary payment method.
The next most popular methods for Britons travelling abroad were credit cards (20 per cent) and debit cards (15 per cent).
