How to choose the right villa resort in the Algarve

Quinta do Lago

We put this in our top three list because of its famous golf courses. There is the Pinheiros Altos Golf course, which is in a beautiful national park, and then of course there is the Quinta do Lago North and South course, which are both highly ranked in Europe. Quinta South is probably one of the most famous places to play in the Algarve and first caught my eye after I watched it on television during the various Portuguese Opens.

Vale do Lobo

Vale do Lobo really appeals to both of us because it looks like there will be plenty of other activities we can get stuck into while we are there. We would both be quite keen to take part in some water sports, so staying in Vale do Lobo looks like a good base for when we book a snorkelling and scuba diving trip.

Friends who have visited the area in the past have highly recommended the Royal Course situated there, and have already tipped me off about the very tricky - but stunning - 16th hole.

Vilamoura

Vilamoura looks ideal for the two of us because it is such a lively place to stay.

There appears to be plenty of things for us to see and do when we are not playing golf and the beaches and bustling marina there look second to none.

Playing a round or two of golf at the Oceanico Victoria would be a great opportunity, especially as some of the sport's biggest names regularly visit the course to compete in the Masters.
