Puerto Banus Villa Holiday Guide
The glitz and glamour of Puerto Banus
Puerto Banus Villas, often referred to as 'Banus' or 'The Port' is located just 6km west of Marbella Town. The resort has grown up around an extensive marina, with harbourside streets filled with bars, shops and nightclubs.
This desirable location is a firm favourite with the rich and famous, golfers seeking year-round play on the Costa del Sol, and it has also become an upmarket stag and hen holiday option.
In addition to its picturesque marina, filled with just under 1,000 expensive yachts, this one-time fishing village also has a golden sandy beach that stretches for about 500m and is undoubtedly one of its major attractions. Levante Beach holds a Blue Flag for cleanliness and from here you can walk the 6km along the beach unhindered to Marbella. There are another 5 smaller beaches to the west of the resort.
There are plenty of retail therapy options in Puerto Banus from the large Cortes Ingles department store to shopping centres packed full of independent boutiques. The bullring also hosts a Saturday market for those wanting to buy local crafts and souvenirs.
Nightlife in Puerto Banus is world class with clubbing, partying and dancing until dawn. There are plenty of chilled bars if you're looking for something more sedate. If you fancy 'celebrity spotting' head to Muelle Rivera - the area of cocktail and wine bars around the marina and seafront. The Avenida del Mar is the town's main seafront promenade. Here you'll find an excessive number of bars and restaurants serving high quality food and drink.
Besides yachting, golf is a major draw to this area. There are numerous golf courses scattered within a 10km radius of Puerto Banus. Due to the strong tradition of golf in the region, courses here offer high quality facilities. You'll also find all other sports available including tennis, horse riding, paragliding and all water sports.
Outside the resort The Sierra Bermeja Mountains rise up to the north of the town and offer breathtaking coastal views. They are ideal for exploring by 4x4 or on foot.
Puerto Banus is a 30-minute transfer from Malaga Airport.
