San Pedro Villa Holiday Guide
San Pedro de Alcántara is perfectly located to offer the tranquillity of a smaller resort, yet with all the facilities that you need to make a great holiday. San Pedro, situated on Spain's stunning Costa del Sol, is approximately 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport and around 10 minutes from the glamorous resort of Marbella. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Sierra de Ronda mountain range, it is a former farming community that has remained relatively unspoiled by tourism.
The San Pedro central plaza is a wonderful place to sit and watch the world go by and the parish church is beautiful. Thursday is market day, when the whole place buzzes and gives you a great chance to meet the locals and visit quirky shops, pavement cafés and bars serving tapas. Take a short stroll from the plaza to the beach and the wide promenade with its many facilities, where you will discover some wonderful beachside restaurants, many of which specialise in fresh seafood.
The beach and promenade act as an open-air gym, solarium and nightclub and together with the plaza is where locals and visitors mingle and share the joys of this wonderful paradise. Visit also the Paleochristian Balisilica Church and Necropolis and to the west at Guadalmina, Las Bovedas, the restored Roman baths - stunning.
Nightlife is very special and although the joys of Marbella and Puerto Banus are close, you may well choose to stay in San Pedro most evenings. The bars and restaurants are an absolute joy and the ones in the plaza stay open until late. Many revellers have stumbled upon this atmospheric and happy-go-lucky scene by chance and have preferred it to the bigger towns.
If you are looking for a holiday villa in the perfect location for your family or are a couple or singles wanting something very special, then San Pedro is the perfect choice.
